Payment Policy

How publishing fees are structured

• NDA processing fee — a fixed fee (currently KSh 1,000) payable when you start your project, before your manuscript can be reviewed.
• Publishing package fee (Bronze, Silver or Gold) — payable in two parts: a 70% deposit, invoiced and payable at the same time as your NDA fee to secure your project's start, and a 30% balance, due before your final, print-ready files are released to you.
• Printing costs — quoted and invoiced separately once your final page count, paper, binding and quantity are confirmed, since these depend on your finished book.
• Launch and other add-on services — quoted separately if requested.

How to pay

We currently accept:

• Bank transfer — transfer to the account details provided by our team, then upload your proof of payment through the portal.
• M-Pesa — where enabled, pay directly from the invoice page in your author portal via an M-Pesa STK push prompt to your phone.
• Cash or cheque — accepted in person at our office, recorded and verified by our finance team.

How payments are verified

Every payment is verified before an invoice is marked as paid:

• Bank transfer proof is checked against our account statement by our finance team.
• M-Pesa payments are confirmed automatically once Safaricom sends a successful payment notification for the exact transaction.
• Cash and cheque payments are recorded by an administrator at the point of receipt, and cheques are cleared before being marked verified.

A payment that has not yet been verified will show as "pending" in your portal — this is normal and simply means our team hasn't confirmed it yet.

Receipts and invoices

An official receipt is generated and made available to you in the author portal for every verified payment. All invoices and receipts remain accessible in your portal for your records.

Order of work

Editorial and design work on each stage of your book begins once the payment for that stage has been verified. Working on staged, verified payments protects both you and us — you are never asked to pay in full for services not yet delivered, and we are able to commit staff and freelancer time to your project with confidence.

Late or outstanding balances

If your 30% balance remains outstanding, your final, print-ready files will not be released until it is paid. This does not affect your ownership of your manuscript — see our Copyright & Manuscript Ownership policy.
