ABOUT CHANCE PUBLISHERS · SINCE 2021

Every book starts
with a chance.

We're a Nairobi-based publishing company, founded in 2021, built on a simple idea: every writer with a finished manuscript deserves a real shot at becoming a published author — without losing their rights, their voice, or their shirt to a confusing process. 5 years on, that's still the whole job.

OUR STORY

Founded on a frustration, built into a promise.

Chance Publishers started in 2021 out of a problem we kept hearing from Kenyan writers: brilliant manuscripts sitting in desk drawers and email drafts, because the path from "finished writing" to "finished book" felt gate-kept, expensive, or impossible to trust with a stranger. Faith leaders with a lifetime of teaching to publish. Researchers with findings worth sharing beyond a thesis committee. Parents writing the children's book they couldn't find on a shelf.

So we built the publishing house we thought Kenya was missing — one that treats a first-time author writing in Kiswahili with the same editorial seriousness as an established leadership author, that puts an NDA in place before a single page changes hands, and that explains ISBN registration and legal deposit in plain language instead of jargon. Today that means manuscript editing and proofreading, cover design and interior layout, ISBN registration through the Kenya National Library Service, printing, and full book launch support — under one roof, with one team that stays with your project from the first edit to the last copy off the press.

We work with authors across Kenya and the wider region writing on faith, leadership, education, fiction, research and science — guided by a small, dedicated team of editors, designers and printing partners who see every project through to a finished, physical, holdable book.

HOW WE WORK

The principles behind every project.

Your manuscript stays yours

Every project starts with a signed NDA. We provide publishing services — we never claim ownership of your work.

Real people, real accountability

Every project has a named editor, designer and admin behind it — not an anonymous queue.

Clear pricing, no surprises

Packages, fees and payment terms are set out before you commit a shilling.

Kenyan publishing, done properly

From KNLS ISBN registration to legal deposit and printing, we handle the local requirements authors often find confusing.
